Update on Internos incident

So, I did a little investigative work (aka called the bar) and was able to obtain some more info on last night from an employee who was present and the one to actually ask them to leave.

Unfortunately I was in a total k-hole when I made the call (aka I just ate McDonalds and I think, like Nitrous, it killed a few brain cells). There may be a few questions I forgot to ask or answers I don't remember. I'll hit you with my best shot.

Apparently the gentlemen who were thrown out were (loosley quoting) "making-out and repeatedly did not respond" to the employee's request to stop. They also began "taking off each other's clothes" at which point, when again not responding to requests to stop, were asked to leave. When asked if other patrons were bothered by the couple's actions, the employee responded rather unconvincingly: "yes, they didn't respond to me and I had them leave."

The gentleman I spoke to, while marginally polite and bluntly forthcoming, seemed completely unaware that his requests and opinion of the two boys' actions appear deeply rooted in bigotry and a glaring double standard. I will say, however, that we gays have been known to embellish details of events - especially when we feel to be the victim. The employee's account of the couple's behavior differs greatly from the 'hugging' and 'staring into one another's eyes' posted repeatedly, but I don't believe that kissing merits expulsion from a bar. I also feel that the claim that the couple were taking off one another's clothes is very clearly tainted by an ignorance and bias against intimacy between same-sex couples.

I do hope that the details, even if still scathing against the bar (or in defense of) are clarified with dignity; not the reactionary hate which seems to have been the only counter to the laziness and complacency that plagues our community. I hope that when you go tonight, you take a moment to constructively engage the staff and patrons about their view of the matter and also how you feel.

And don't forget to stare lovingly into their eyes and hug. --
