Remember when blogging was fun (and a capital B)?

I recently made a comment via Twitter to @sfist regarding the (ir)regularity of their posts and received a highly personal and offensive direct reply. Thanks, Brock. Granted, I wasn't exactly the most regular posting person; however, I still had faith in the non-commercial blogger/tweeter.

I wonder, though, what the value of non-commercial and non-Facebook (syndicated) blogging is now. Has blogging (formerly an ability for folks to write thoughts that would otherwise be stagnant) become nothing more but a channel for commercial or, gasp, mediocre opinion perpetuation? Do we care?

Castro Poster Nazi

(download)

Those of you who live or at least spend time around the Castro have
probably seen him... the so-called Castro Poster Nazi. While I don't
necessarily agree with a verbally aggressive response, I do understand
the frustration folks have around him.

A video being posted on the Facebooks can be found here:

Someone also created a fantastic set of posters (which are well
designed AND fun) which you can download from this post.

My first film camera...

In a while. Purchased at the Lomo store in la. Now I can take these type of photos without them being processed through a phone  computer.

And now for something completely different...

I'm just under 12 hours away from departing on my 545-mile journey down to LA on the AIDS/LifeCycle. As I ride, I'll be trying my best to post photos/videos/comments on my other blog located at http://lifecycle.urbanesque.org. So, get your ass over there and see how things are going!

You can also "Experience the Event" over at the LifeCycle page, follow the event both on twitter and Facebook.

With much love, I'll catch you on the flip-side.

Annie Lennox - Ev'ry time we say goodbye

Someone asked me the other day who my "diva idol" was. Without really thinking my reply was Annie Lennox. It'd been a while since I actually watched or heard any of her so I did some YouTube stalking and found this little gem.

Yes.... a little depressing but I'm Russian. What do you expect?

The Culture War South of the border

I don't have enough energy right now to post a full entry about this but I've come across a few articles recently which I find to be very interesting especially in the midst of our current (continued?) cultural struggle here. Apparently Mexico has some dialogue brewing, too. That said, I wouldn't exactly call what we have here "dialogue".

The first one that started me thinking: http://www.theworld.org/2010/04/06/mexicos-new-hot-button-issues/

Just noticed this one on the Economist site: http://www.economist.com/world/americas/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15911193&so...

And finally, an oldie but goodie: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6586959.stm

Ciao!
